Carine van der Leest (1993) is a Dutch writer. She holds a master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam. In her writing she delves into topics such as identity, love, womanhood, queerness and relationships of all kinds, trying to capture deeply human experiences and connections.
She currently lives in Barcelona with her wife, where she divides her time between writing, reading, and working on creative projects. The Sappho Club is her debut.

Writing The Sappho Club was a way for me to make sense of a period in my life that changed everything. It brought together my personal experiences and my academic background, and gave me the chance to explore big questions through very real, everyday moments.
My hope is that this book resonates with anyone who has ever felt a little out of place, who has questioned the stories they were given, or who is still figuring things out.
